Summary of Research - Psychological thriller

First I picked a genre for my opening sequence; I chose to have a thriller as it is such a broad genre it can be adapted to many different story ideas. So I then researched different types of thrillers, and decided to do a Psychological thriller as this can be kept relatively simple to do effectively and without budget to spend on locations. They do not require many specific props or special effects like explosions, guns or big chase scenes. Although the iconography for some genres are more tasking then in a psychological thriller, there are still some important things needed to be factored in. We need to show a broken soul, to show this in-depth view of the characters Broken identity; things like a mirror are perfect for this.

Psychological thriller is a specific sub-genre of the broad ranged thriller with heavy focus on the unstable emotional states of characters, in combination with mystery and thriller. However, it often incorporates elements from the mystery and drama genre, along with the typical traits of the thriller genre. In addition to drama and mystery, many psychological thrillers contain elements of, and often overlap with, the horror genre, particularly psychological horror.
